There are several things you need to take into account when planning your budget for a student stay in France.

Rent: It can range from €150 to €800 a month and depends on the city you’re studying in. Rent is the most expensive in Paris, with an average of €806. You can ask for the CAF’s housing allowances to alleviate your rent. These allowances can amount to roughly €350 as a maximum, which is quite significant.

Meals: between €200 and €300/month depending on your taste-buds’ standards.
public transportation: between €100 and €350/year, depending on the city. Transport pass is the most expensive in Paris (€342) and Rennes (€321) and the least expensive in Grenoble (€150), Toulouse (€100) and Limoges (€90).
Telephone & Internet fees: from €20 to €30/month, depending on your data-gluttony
Hygiene and care: €50 to €100/month, depending on your coquetry
Health Insurance: it covers most of your medical expenses and costs €217/year.
School-related expenses: potential tuition fees, books you might need to buy.
But, it’s safe to estimate you can consider on a €600 monthly budget (as a minimum).

The day of your appointment, thank you for coming with :

  • Your passport or any other travel document (containing at least two consecutive blank pages) + copy of the identity page of this document and the latest visas obtained
  • Originals + copy of all documents listed below, translated into French or English.
