You need to schedule an interview with the US embassy or consulate in your country. Depending on your location and the visa category the waiting time for the interview may vary. The visa can be issued up to 120 days before the start of your course in the United States but you will only be allowed to enter the Us 30 days before the start of your semester. 

The following documents are required for your F-1 visa interview:

  • A valid passport
  • The Nonimmigrant Visa Application, Form DS-160
  • The application fee payment receipt
  • A passport photo
  • A Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant (F-1) Student Status (Form 1-20)
  • Sevis fee Receipt
  • Financial supporting documents
  • Offer Letter
  • Previous academic Documents ,…

The embassy reserves the right to request additional documents such as diplomas, degrees, certificates, transcripts, proof of funds, proof of intent to depart the U.S. and other documents.
